Group Friendly: Restaurants in Copenhagen

Eating out in large groups is part and parcel of Danish life and ‘the long table’ is synonymous with parties and festive occasions. Most restaurants will be quite accustomed to group bookings whether for family get-togethers or business meetings, and many have private rooms that can reserved. We’ve put together a list that includes a selection of cuisines, from the innovative to the more traditional, from local and Nordic specialties to the best in biodynamic, Italian and Pan-Asian – and that is based not only on the availability of private rooms but also on decor, acoustics, and space to enjoy both great food and great company.

There are several restaurants to choose from in the memorable, art deco surroundings of Claus Meyer’s The Standard on Copenhagen’s waterfront: Harbor views are also on offer at relaxed, eco-friendly Restaurant Toldboden. Alternatively, find out why the long, rustic tables of Matt Orlando’s Amass restaurant are some of the hottest in town.

If your budget can run to it, indulge your dinner guests with the private room of upscale Italian Era Ora; or go casual at downtown The Italian, on the ground floor of hotel Kong Frederik. Traditional Danish-French cuisine doesn’t come much better than that served at Kanalen; while more innovative menus are offered at newcomer Marv & Ben on Snaregade.

Take more adventurous groups on a culinary tour of the meat-packing district, Kødbyen, home to hot dining spots such as BioMio and Nose2Tail. Or enjoy fresh and modern Asian food at The Red Box – an eatery able to accommodate parties of up to 40.
